Curitiba-born pianist André Schmidt has studied with Olga Kiun since 2017 and graduated with distinction in Piano from the Paraná School of Music and Fine Arts (EMBAP) in 2024. A prizewinner at the Günter Bauer, Souza Lima and Rosa Mística competitions, he pursues a solo career and chamber music, with performances in Brazil, Italy and Hungary.

Biography

Born in Curitiba, André Schmidt began studying piano at the age of 6. He has been a student of pianist and teacher Olga Kiun since 2017, and in 2024 he graduated with distinction from the Bachelor's program in Piano at the Paraná School of Music and Fine Arts (EMBAP).

He has taken part in festivals such as the Oficina de Música de Curitiba (2018, 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025) and the Londrina Music Festival (2018), and in masterclasses with teachers such as Roberto Domingos, Fanny Solter, Anna Yarovaia, Érika Ribeiro, Cristian Budu and Raphael Lusczewsky. In 2022, he was invited to the Young Talents Series (Série Jovens Talentos), presented by the Aronne Pianos store in São Paulo. In 2023 and 2024, he took part in the Young Pianists Series (Série Jovens Pianistas) in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, and in the recital series of the Brazilian Society of Eubiosis (Sociedade Brasileira de Eubiose) in São Paulo.

In 2024 he won 1st prize at the Rosa Mística Latin American Competition, and in 2026 he won 3rd prize at both the Günter Bauer Competition and the Souza Lima Competition. Together with Ornella de Lucca, he also won 2nd prize at the Young Chamber Music Competition of the Tatuí Conservatory. In addition to his career in Brazil, he has performed in cities in Italy and Hungary.
